Short story nothings
Excerpts, not done and not necessarily good!
He woke up. Lying facedown - prostrate on the concrete floor slowing coming to his senses. The room surrounding him looked like a hodgepodge of dust and wet, as if an untouched musty attic had recently been flooded. It was about the size of a 3 car garage, that probably being the best description because it appeared to be just that. Groaning in pain,...

– The Wind in the Willows
Are truths just maybe’s?
As we get older we are confronted with all sorts of things; things that amaze, intrigue, scare, oppose, and even align with the ideas we have as a child. As we step into so called “maturity” (some of us are in a headlong sprint, while others have their heels dug in) we have to filter out what isn’t true. We make the discovery that not everything is true, and the next step is to question the very...

Cold Morning.
I’m a desert kid, not use to this!
The first of a bunch of Behind the Scenes videos for my dad. Definitely been a taxing experience for me. There’s a lot of pressure to get it right, and I’m never happy with them completely. It’s weird how everything takes basically 5 times longer than what you think. Probably the biggest struggle is finding the right music, thankfully my buddy Evan in Standby Red 5 said I could...

Wilcox Playa, about an hour and a half outside of Tucson. I swear there is an alien launch pad out there somewhere, check google maps if you don’t believe me.
Australia round TWO.
Today I board a plane to fly all the way to Australia. Super stoked for a number of reasons. One my bro-slice Zach lives there now so I get to see him again and especially because I have no agenda for this trip. I just want to get some cool shots, maybe some cool footage, see some old friends, and just hang out. Last time I went I did a lot of dumb things, IE telling some guy I have scaffolding...
Outlaw cabs.
I melted my shoe because of this.
Logo for Paul’s guitar cab’s. He had the logo cut out on a CNC Machine out of solid steel to make a brand. I got to play with a blowtorch which I always enjoy.
Love for mah homie's
I hang out in trees because I have no friends
It’s strange to me now, because I live in a strange place. What’s weird is when you invest time into something without realizing it. I lived in Tucson AZ for 8 years, and it’s there that I was shaped into what I am today. I’m actually scared to think of what I’d be if my family had stayed in Colorado. Anyways, couple...
Why I love Instagram.
I used to hate on Instagram hardcore. My argument was,
“You don’t even have to know anything about photography to take good pictures!”
Now I love Instagram, my argument is,
“You don’t even have to know anything about photography to take good pictures!”
The change in attitude is largely due to an idea that I’ve been confronted with a lot lately. I’ve worked with a couple different people in...
The video is locked right now because of the contest but the password is “max”
“Lights, Camera, Reaction”…
Last friday night my friend Johnathan texted me about helping with a short film, and I asked when, and his response was, “tonight”. So I headed over and a group of friends were entering the the Prairie Grass Film Challenge. So starting that night and then the following...
I want a smoke machine.
…and a flame thrower.
Foggy morning.
Woke up early this morning to catch the mist that had settled in before it burned off. I’ve been filming behind the scenes stuff for my dad for sometime, but it’s all been studio stuff. This was a good opportunity to film how he does some of his HDR’s so I spend most my time filming, but stopped once to grab this quick shot.

just for fun I did a composite of the...
Mt. Lemon, GNARLY BRAH
360˚ panorama. Full-size image here.
Took a trip up the mountain with some friends last time I was in Tucson, who would think that the scorching hot desert is only 45 minutes from here… wrinkles MY brain at least. Did some HDR’s too, not exactly what I wanted but I think I need to work on the processing more.
(freezing) cold water Stitched 3 HDR images. Love the water...
Went to Anaheim yesterday
Some Canadians pals were in town so we went out shooting
First time I used my new tripod head, tried a panorama of dem hillz. 3 HDR shots stitched together, so a total of 9 images. Never really shot directly into sun before… supposedly it’s bad for my lens hehe… Anyways we wanted to get down there but there was a bunch of “No Trespassing” signs so for now I just...

Nathan Grimes everyone.
A ladies man.
Took this over Christmas break in Tucson, this is Paul, he’s my bro and builds cool things.
Check out his website, Outlaw Cabs
hheeheheeeee...
so uh, haven’t done that video blog… Really busy, I think I was sorta productive over Christmas so hopefully I’ll post some of that soon.
My computer has crashed like 23 times and I am PISSED

Filmed in Cannon Beach, OR. Chill day at the beach with Troy and Lokahi, it was perfect weather for shooting. Shot the whole thing on my 7D with the 10-22mm lens at 60fps so I could slow it down. Hopefully soon Troy will have recorded his own music to go over it, but for now we’re using Beach House. Haven’t had that much fun shooting a video in awhile, mainly I think because Troy was...
West Coast trip
I’ve been back a couple weeks now, but recently met up with my bro Troy in Los Angeles and we embarked on a trip up the coast. We made it all the way to Vancouver only spending $40 dollars on gas thanks to his vegetable oil powered VW. Definitely one of my best trips yet.
This is Lokahi, he’s quite the road trip buddy.
Vancouver baby! Cody’s not a hipster at all and...
It's 9:10pm.
I’m learning After Effects. Sucks Bro. I hate not feeling at home in a computer program. I grew up on photoshop, literally as far back as I remember my dad always had it and giving people three eyes was a favorite past-time of mine. Anyways, I’m trying to animate a title screen for my dad’s video blog that’s better than just the stock template you can already get in...

Paul Madonna
Recently picked up this guy’s book, definitely kept me entertained for a couple hours.
An oldie revisited.
This is my buddy Phil, haven’t seen him in awhile but I took this picture maybe last year? I was inspired by Richard Avedon’s black and white so I went back from the beginning for this one. It’s a 3 Exposure HDR portrait using a continuos ring light, shot in my garage with the Canon 7D.

Canada bound.
I fly from El Paso, TX tomorrow morning for Los Angeles to meet up with my buddies Luke and Troy. From there we’re cruising up the coast in our veggie powered VW, partying the whole way. One stop that I’m looking forward to will be the fabled Mt Shasta. My brother and I, Ben Grimes always wanted to hit up Shasta, due to our obsession with VW busses which led to the discovery of the...
Cinemagraph, dawg
So I follow Koo over at No Film School, and he reposted a tutorial on how to do a “Cinemagraph”. I just did a quick test at Cranbrook Kingswood School in Bloomfield Hills MI, just to test the waters and see how complex it is. Making the cinemagraph itself was super easy in photoshop, it was getting it on the internet which sucked, and I lost a lot of quality so I’m hopefully...
